Domaine Des Roches Neuves

Outre Terre 2022

Saumur-Champigny | Red | 2022

With its deep, dark garnet color, this 100% Cabernet Franc wine reveals a rich and elegant character. Its meticulous winemaking includes a traditional four-month maceration in Georgian amphorae, followed by twelve months of aging in oak barrels, without the addition of sulfur or filtration. This method allows for the development of a velvety texture and an aromatic expression of dark fruit, beautifully supported by smooth tannins. Perfect to accompany a platter of Spanish charcuterie.

Our opinion on the vintage

Upon opening, this wine displays an initially discreet nose, but one that is ready to reveal its bouquet of ripe black fruit. On the palate, it offers a rounded and very ample sensation, marked by a dense and velvety texture. The experience is enriched by subtle aromas of cocoa and spice that linger delicately. The elegantly concentrated finish enhances the vibrant fruit with measured intensity. The tannins blend harmoniously into this harmony of flavors, promising a refined tasting experience.

Domaine Des Roches Neuves

Loire | France

In Saumur-Champigny, the Domaine des Roches Neuves has been run by Thierry Germain since 1992. The estate extends over limestone and clay-limestone terroirs, particularly suited to cabernet franc, as well as chenin for white wines.

Starting in 2002, the estate embraced biodynamic farming, with in-depth work on the soils, vine vitality, and yield control. This approach aims to produce balanced grapes, capable of accurately expressing their origin without artifice in the cellar. Vinification prioritizes measured extractions and a focus on the body of the wine to preserve the fruit and the natural energy of the juice.

The winemaking process is conceived as a complementary tool, chosen to respect the wine's structure and its capacity for expression, without seeking to influence the style. The wines are distinguished by their purity of fruit, their precision, and a sense of controlled tension, while retaining genuine depth.
