Région Péloponnèse

Located in southern mainland Greece, the Peloponnese is one of the country’s most important and historic wine-growing regions. Nestled among mountains and high plateaus, and influenced by the Aegean and Ionian Seas, the region’s vineyards benefit from a wide variety of microclimates, allowing for the production of diverse and well-balanced wines.

The vineyards are often planted at high altitudes, sometimes above 600 meters, which helps keep the grapes cool despite the sunny Mediterranean climate. The limestone, clay, and stony soils enhance the concentration and aromatic expression of the local grape varieties. The region is particularly renowned for Moschofilero, an iconic white grape variety that produces highly aromatic wines with floral and citrus notes, as well as for Agiorgitiko, a major red variety that yields supple, fruity, and elegant wines capable of gaining structure with aging.

The Peloponnese is known for its approachable yet refined wines, characterized by a lovely freshness and a well-defined Mediterranean character. The whites offer tension and aromatic finesse, while the reds combine roundness, spice, and balance. Today, this region plays a key role in the quality renaissance of Greek winemaking, combining indigenous grape varieties, modern expertise, and a distinct terroir identity.
