This Chenin comes from an exceptional terroir, where the vines thrive in carefully tended clay-limestone soil. The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by fermentation in barrels to extract the wine’s full aromatic richness. Aging on fine lees for nine months in an underground cellar at low temperatures preserves the wine’s freshness and fruitiness, offering a tasting experience that is both elegant and complex.

Our take on this vintage

This Chenin boasts a vibrant, almost crystalline straw-yellow color that instantly catches the eye. On the nose, it initially reveals a concentration that blends freshness and richness. With a little aeration, an explosion of fruity, floral, and herbal aromas emerges: white and exotic fruits, as well as citrus and grapefruit notes. On the palate, the elegance continues with a pleasant aromatic palette, ranging from acacia to hawthorn, and a hint of rose that adds to its complex and balanced delicacy.

Des Roches Neuves Estate

Des Roches Neuves Estate

Loire | France

Located in the Saumur-Champigny region, Domaine des Roches Neuves has been run by Thierry Germain since 1992. The estate is situated on limestone and clay-limestone soils, which are particularly well-suited to Cabernet Franc, as well as Chenin for the white wines.

Starting in 2002, the estate adopted biodynamic practices, focusing intensively on soil management, vine vitality, and yield control. This approach aims to produce balanced grapes that accurately reflect their terroir without artificial intervention in the cellar. Winemaking emphasizes gentle extraction and working with the whole mass to preserve the fruit and natural energy of the juices.

The aging processes are designed to complement the wine, chosen to respect its structure and its ability to express itself, without seeking to dictate its style. The wines are distinguished by their pure fruit, their precision, and a sense of controlled tension, while retaining true depth.
