Our Review of the Cuvée

The color is an intense gold verging on orange. The nose is very intense, complex, and captivating, with notes of candied Muscat, dried peach and apricot, and an oriental souk (spices, flowers, incense...). The palate is round, very full-bodied, and enveloping, revealing a dense, soft, and voluptuous texture with a sensuality rarely found in an orange wine. The flavor is as intense as the nose, with prominent dried yellow fruits and, of course, Muscat in its most flamboyant form. The finish extends the palate while concentrating it, adding noble bitter notes (apricot pits), with great persistence of Muscat, dried rose, candied orange peel, and spices.

Clos Du Gravillas

Clos Du Gravillas

Languedoc | France

On the upper slopes of Saint-Jean-de-Minervois, within the Minervois region, Clos du Gravillas cultivates a vineyard established on very stony, calcareous soils, situated at high altitudes. This geological and climatic context promotes gradual maturation and naturally taut balances.

The estate cultivates a diversity of grape varieties—Carignan, Terret, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mourvèdre—managed under organic agriculture. Vinification processes are conducted with precision, prioritizing fruit purity and measured extractions. This approach yields luminous wines, structured by a tension uncommon for the region.

The cuvées exhibit digestible and vertical profiles, combining depth and freshness without heaviness. The overall work of Clos du Gravillas offers a unique and coherent interpretation of the Minervois terroir, highlighting altitude, soil composition, and a constant pursuit of balance.
