Our Review of the Cuvée

From the very first glance, this wine captures the eye with its golden, slightly hazy hue. On the nose, an explosion of intense notes of dried orange peel, chestnut honey, and a subtle hint of nail polish evokes a natural and expressive character. With aeration, aromas of dried apricot emerge. On the palate, the attack is dynamic, underscored by a lively tension. The texture is both dense and silky, enveloping the palate in smoothness. The crisp acidity extends into a memorable finish where bitter orange, cinchona, and spices unfold, leaving a delicious lingering aftertaste.

Château Barouillet

Château Barouillet

South-West | France

In Bergerac, Château Barouillet is now managed by a new generation, adopting an approach focused on grape clarity and balanced simplicity. The estate cultivates traditional regional grape varieties, including Merlot, Malbec, and Sémillon, striving to preserve their most direct expression.

The vineyard is managed using sustainable practices, with minimal intervention during vinification. Extractions are carefully controlled, and aging is intentionally light, allowing the fruit to take center stage. Some cuvées may exhibit a subtle texture, embraced as a stylistic element, without ever compromising the wine's profile.

The wines are characterized by their straightforwardness and accessibility, while maintaining genuine aromatic precision. Château Barouillet's overall approach offers an authentic and contemporary interpretation of Bergerac, based on clarity, freshness, and an unadulterated style.
