Morgon Vieilles Vignes 2023

Morgon | Red | 2023

Planted on granite and sand, this Morgon, made from century-old vines, is vinified with whole clusters without crushing, using indigenous yeasts. Aging for 6 to 8 months on fine lees in old Burgundy barrels imparts a silky texture and beautiful tension. A structured Gamay, typical of the appellation, combining ripe fruit, saline minerality, and natural elegance.

Our opinion on the vintage

The wine is a deep ruby color. The nose opens with aromas of ripe red fruits, black cherry, and redcurrant, with a floral touch and a subtle smoky note. On the palate, the wine is juicy, with a full and velvety texture, supported by lively acidity and supple tannins. The balance between freshness, fruity depth, and mineral tension results in a vibrant and elegant wine with a long, flavorful finish. A great Gamay, a true expression of its terroir, all precision and naturalness.

Beaujolais | France

Domaine Jean-Paul et Charly Thévenet is a Beaujolais winery located in Villié-Morgon in the northern part of the region, known for being one of the major players in the revival of natural wine in the Morgon appellation. Founded by Jean-Paul Thévenet, a pioneer of the natural wine movement since the 1980s, it is now run by his son Charly, who brings a new energy while respecting the original philosophy.

The estate primarily cultivates Gamay grapes on granitic soils typical of Morgon, often from old vines, and practices organic or biodynamic viticulture with limited intervention in the cellar. Fermentation is natural, often with carbonic maceration, and the wines are neither fined nor filtered, with minimal addition of sulfites if necessary.

The estate's wines, particularly their Morgon "Vieilles Vignes" or "Tradition", are renowned for their pure expression of fruit, their freshness, their structure and their minerality, making this estate a
