Célestin Rouge 2023

Menetou-Salon | Rouge | 2023

Célestin is an iconic wine from Domaines Minchin that showcases Pinot Noir grown on the limestone terroirs of Menetou-Salon. The wine is aged in barrels, which adds depth and complexity to the Pinot Noir without masking its character. With a production of just 7,300 bottles in 2023, Célestin elegantly showcases Bertrand Minchin’s work with red wines from the Centre-Loire region.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The ruby color reveals lovely purplish highlights, reflecting the vintage’s youth.
The nose entices with aromas of ripe cherry and dark berries, accompanied by spicy and slightly woody notes.
On the palate, the attack is supple and generous, carried by a refined texture and lovely freshness. The tannins, still present but already silky, provide elegant structure to the wine.
The finish, fresh and lingering, leaves a pleasant fruity and spicy sensation, with great potential for aging.

Minchin Estate

Minchin Estates

Loire | France

Located in Morogues, in the heart of the Menetou-Salon appellation, the La Tour Saint-Martin estate is the brainchild of Bertrand Minchin, who embarked on his winemaking journey in 1988, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, who had already been growing grapes on this land.

The vineyard now spans 17 hectares, planted primarily with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, on the clay-limestone slopes and Kimmeridgian marl soils of Morogues. Here, work in the vineyard is at the heart of the estate’s philosophy: plowing, adding compost, controlling yields, and balancing vegetation growth all help to best reveal the identity of each plot.

Committed for many years to environmentally friendly viticulture, the estate is now certified organic. The winemaking process—precise and minimally interventionist—emphasizes the expression of the terroir and produces elegant, fresh, and particularly refined Menetou-Salon wines.

A signature feature that has become a staple of the Centre-Loire region, regularly praised
