Les Saint-Lazare Rouge 2022

Menetou-Salon | Rouge | 2022

The Les Saint-Lazare vintage is based on a unique blend of four grape varieties: Gamay, Côt, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir, each vinified separately to preserve its individual character.

The vines take root in unique soils composed of clay and flint, covered with a layer of gravel, which lend the wine freshness and character. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, after which the Côt and Cabernet Franc are partially aged in barrels and 600-liter casks.

A precise and rich interpretation of red Valençay, in which Bertrand Minchin focuses on the harmony of the grape varieties rather than on intensity.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The light color with violet highlights hints at a red wine full of freshness and richness. The nose blends ripe cherry and blackberry with delicate spicy notes, offering a very fruity profile. On the palate, the attack is round and crisp, carried by a lovely freshness. The tannins, dense yet refined, add depth without weighing down the wine. The finish, fresh and slightly spicy, pleasantly prolongs the fruit and lends this Valençay plenty of character.

Minchin Estate

Minchin Estates

Loire | France

Located in Morogues, in the heart of the Menetou-Salon appellation, the La Tour Saint-Martin estate is the brainchild of Bertrand Minchin, who embarked on his winemaking journey in 1988, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, who had already been growing grapes on this land.

The vineyard now spans 17 hectares, planted primarily with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, on the clay-limestone slopes and Kimmeridgian marl soils of Morogues. Here, work in the vineyard is at the heart of the estate’s philosophy: plowing, adding compost, controlling yields, and balancing vegetation growth all help to best reveal the identity of each plot.

Committed for many years to environmentally friendly viticulture, the estate is now certified organic. The winemaking process—precise and minimally interventionist—emphasizes the expression of the terroir and produces elegant, fresh, and particularly refined Menetou-Salon wines.

A signature feature that has become a staple of the Centre-Loire region, regularly praised
