Franc de Pied 2023

Saumur-Champigny | Red | 2023

Thierry Germain has managed to express the full finesse of Cabernet Franc here. The grapes are harvested by hand and then meticulously sorted to guarantee exceptional quality. Fermentation in oval vats preserves the aromas and adds a beautiful texture on the palate. With its vibrant ruby-red color, this wine offers a refreshing attack and an elegant structure thanks to a light acidity that enlivens the whole.

Our opinion on the vintage

On the nose, this Cabernet Franc reveals a subtle floral bouquet enriched with ripe red berries. From the first sip, a crisp attack gives way to a juicy and vibrant texture. The lightness of the cherry and raspberry aromas is enhanced by a well-balanced acidity, offering a full and rich tasting experience. This is a delicate wine on the palate, both lively and harmonious, which will pair beautifully with red meat or game dishes, highlighting their complexity without overpowering them.

Domaine Des Roches Neuves

Loire | France

In Saumur-Champigny, the Domaine des Roches Neuves has been run by Thierry Germain since 1992. The estate extends over limestone and clay-limestone terroirs, particularly suited to cabernet franc, as well as chenin for white wines.

Starting in 2002, the estate embraced biodynamic farming, with in-depth work on the soils, vine vitality, and yield control. This approach aims to produce balanced grapes, capable of accurately expressing their origin without artifice in the cellar. Vinification prioritizes measured extractions and a focus on the body of the wine to preserve the fruit and the natural energy of the juice.

The winemaking process is conceived as a complementary tool, chosen to respect the wine's structure and its capacity for expression, without seeking to influence the style. The wines are distinguished by their purity of fruit, their precision, and a sense of controlled tension, while retaining genuine depth.
