TAN NAT 2024

Vin de France | Red | 2024

This Vin de France, made from 100% Tannat grapes, is distinguished by its artisanal and environmentally conscious approach. Grown on clay-limestone soils with 25-year-old vines, it benefits from meticulous winemaking: total destemming, short maceration, and natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts. After aging for eight months in concrete tanks, the wine is bottled without the addition of sulfites, fining, or filtration, according to the lunar calendar.

Our opinion on the vintage

At first glance, this wine surprises with its intense, deep color. The nose is remarkably pure, revealing floral and spicy aromas typical of Tannat. On the palate, it is straightforward and direct, with a beautiful silky texture inherited from its natural winemaking process. The well-integrated tannins provide a balanced structure and a lingering finish. Served at 15°C, it pairs perfectly with a charcuterie board featuring Bigorre black pork or spicy dishes, offering an authentic and convivial experience.

Domaine Labranche-Laffont is a family-run winery located in Maumusson-Laguian, in the Gers region, within the Madiran and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh appellations. The estate was taken over in 1993 by Christine Dupuy, a pioneer of local viticulture, who led it towards certified organic viticulture while preserving plots of very old vines, including a rare plot of pre-phylloxera Tannat dating back to the 19th century.

The vines are planted on south-east facing slopes of clay and pebbles, promoting optimal ripening of Tannat, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate also produces dry and sweet Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh white wines from Gros and Petit Manseng grapes.

The winemaking process is carried out with minimal intervention to allow the character of the terroir to express itself. Madiran red wines are distinguished by their structure, fine tannins, and aromatic intensity, while the white wines are fresh and balanced.
