Vieilles Vignes 2022

Cornas | Red | 2022

This organic wine comes from old vines, over 60 years old, deeply rooted in the sunny, weathered granite slopes typical of the appellation. Grown on stakes, the Syrah grapes are hand-harvested to preserve the optimal quality of the bunches, and vinified with care through partial destemming. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts, and the wine is aged for 20 months in oak barrels, guaranteeing complexity and finesse with remarkable aging potential.

Our opinion on the vintage

This Cornas reveals a captivating aromatic profile. On the nose, scents of leather and black pepper mingle with notes of ripe black fruit, showcasing the authentic richness of Syrah. On the palate, its velvety texture envelops the palate, with elegant, well-integrated tannins. A beautiful persistence reveals spicy and mineral nuances, reminiscent of the granitic terroir. This wine is the ideal companion to a hare à la royale, where its depth and nuances will enhance each seasoned dish.

In Cornas, Alain Voge has crafted a vision of Syrah that combines firmness and precision. The old vines yield a dense juice, sometimes dark, but held together by remarkable tension. The white wines of Saint-Péray display a calm breadth. A concise statement: controlled depth.
