Domaine Les Terres Blanches

Ancestral Brut 2023

Vin de France | White | 2023

The ancestral method chosen by Céline and Benoit Blet uses fully ripe Chenin Blanc grapes, resulting in a less austere aromatic experience than with a traditional method. This choice allows them to create a naturally sparkling wine with rich and balanced flavors. The wine's clarity and fine bubbles form a harmonious whole, adding an approachable and refined dimension that rivals higher-end sparkling wines. A perfect choice for lovers of characterful wines.

Our opinion on the vintage

The wine is pale gold with fine bubbles. The nose is inviting and complex, with aromas of roasted white fruit and delicate notes of pastry. The palate is ample, fresh, and bursting with purity, with creamy and invigorating micro-bubbles, creating a refined whole that would put many much more expensive sparkling wines to shame. The finish is clean and crisp, gaining even more freshness and purity. It's very, very good!

Located in Bué, in the heart of the Sancerre region, Domaine Les Terres Blanches relies on a beautiful diversity of soils: the famous deep, structured clay-limestone "terres blanches" (white soils), the lighter, more draining "caillottes" (pebbly soils), and clay-silt areas that provide tension and brilliance. This mosaic is directly reflected in the wines, with expressions that are always clear but never uniform.

Sauvignon Blanc reigns supreme here, and is expressed with great precision. On the "terres blanches," it gains in amplitude and depth, with a more enveloping texture. On the "caillottes," it becomes livelier, straighter, with an almost sharp freshness. The maturation, sometimes in barrels, supports the wines without ever masking their origin, providing relief and a beautiful texture.

Céline and Benoit Blet also work with Pinot Noir, with the same pursuit of balance. The wines are fine, elegant, never marked by extraction, with ... Lire plus
