Fleur de Crussol 2023

Saint-Péray | Blanc | 2023

This cuvée was created in 1999 by Alain Voge with the friendly assistance of the late Daniel Denis, a sommelier from Lyon and a great ambassador for the wines of the Rhône Valley. The Crussol massif, which gave the cuvée its name, is of great importance to the Saint-Péray AOC because it provides the limestone elements essential for producing great white wines.

Our Review of the Cuvée

On the nose, this wine reveals delicate notes of white flowers and ripe citrus. On the palate, it offers a silky, full-bodied texture, underpinned by a subtle minerality that reflects its limestone terroir. Notes of white-fleshed fruit blend harmoniously with a hint of spice, imparted by aging in oak barrels. The finish is long, marked by a slight salinity that hints at its gastronomic potential. An ideal pairing with refined dishes such as prawns and vegetables in a turmeric emulsion.

In Cornas, Alain Voge has sculpted a vision of Syrah that combines firmness and precision. The old vines yield a dense, at times opaque, juice, yet sustained by remarkable tension. The Saint-Péray whites exhibit a serene amplitude. In short: controlled depth.
