Les Côtes 2022

Saint-Joseph | Rouge | 2022

This Saint-Joseph from Domaine Alain Voge, grown on the granite-rich terroir of the “coteaux vitrines” in Mauves, is the result of meticulous organic and biodynamic cultivation. Grown on 1.1 hectares, this Syrah stands out for its careful winemaking: hand-harvested grapes, fermentation with native yeasts, and extended maceration in stainless steel tanks. A 16-month aging in barrels refines its aromas while preserving the grape variety’s character. With reduced sulfite levels, this wine displays remarkable balance.

Our Review of the Cuvée

From the moment it’s opened, this Saint-Joseph captivates with a spellbinding bouquet of floral incense, lavender, and spices. On the palate, the texture is silky, with subtle, well-integrated tannins, offering an experience that is both generous and refined. Notes of wild strawberries and blueberries add an irresistible fruity dimension. This wine pairs beautifully with duck in an apple and chestnut crust, as the fruit’s sweetness and acidity complement its rich fruitiness perfectly. Enjoy it now or cellar it to fully appreciate its evolution.

In Cornas, Alain Voge has sculpted a vision of Syrah that combines firmness and precision. The old vines yield a dense, at times opaque, juice, yet sustained by remarkable tension. The Saint-Péray whites exhibit a serene amplitude. In short: controlled depth.
