Our Review of the Cuvée

The color ranges from liquid gold to copper. The nose is intense, complex, and simply superb, with notes of mirabelle plum tart, candied orange, oriental spices, faded rose, and so, so much more. The palate is slender, taut with a delicate acidity, and unfolds with a round, ripe body, featuring a soft, sensual texture, with a light tannic framework in the background and a hint of carbonation that tickles the taste buds. The finish is energetic, elegant, and lingering, with notes of apricot roasted in brown butter, candied orange peel, and a light touch of cinchona, bringing noble bitterness that lingers for a long time. How delicious!

A forgotten grape variety can transform a landscape: this is what Thomas Finot has demonstrated by reviving Verdesse and Etraire de la Dhuy in the foothills of the Isère. His wines possess a precision, almost crystalline in quality, without ever becoming austere. The freshness comes naturally, as if flowing from the nearby mountain. The reds unfold gently, while the whites oscillate between tension and quiet maturity. A patient revival effort with far-reaching impact.
