Valais | White | 2022

The winemaking process at Domaine Marie-Thérèse Chappaz focuses on a natural approach that respects the transformations of the grapes. By using indigenous yeasts and minimizing the use of additives, these wines offer an authentic expression of their complex and unique terroir. This approach highlights the depth and intensity of the Ermitage grape variety (known in France as Marsanne ), cultivated in the challenging yet enriching conditions of the Claives hillsides.

Our opinion on the vintage

This wine reveals a rich and complex nose with aromas of dried apricots, cedar, and licorice, accompanied by hints of mountain honey and a subtle white truffle. On the palate, it charms with its smooth texture and refreshing balance, underscored by the beneficial influence of biodynamic farming. The nearly century-old Marsanne vines lend depth and an unforgettable character. This age-worthy wine, perfect with a Swiss "Caramel" Gruyère, a chicken with morels, or a chanterelle casserole, will distinguish itself with its evolving qualities over time.

Valais | Switzerland

Marie-Thérèse Chappaz is a renowned winemaker from Valais in Switzerland, based in Fully, where she manages her estate biodynamically with a deep respect for nature and the Alpine terroirs. She took over the family vineyards in the late 1980s and gradually expanded them to reach approximately 10 hectares of carefully cultivated plots.

Her philosophy is based on listening to nature and a very personal approach to winemaking, where human intervention is kept to a minimum to allow the purity of the grape varieties and the soil to express itself. She uses biodynamic practices and indigenous yeasts, with few additives, to produce wines that faithfully reflect their origins.

Marie-Thérèse Chappaz's wines cover a varied range including Fendants based on Chasselas and more concentrated wines made from local grape varieties, offering a rich and typical sensory palette, often praised for its authenticity.
