The Sauternes vineyard is located on the banks of the Gironde. The white wines of Sauternes are made from grape varieties such as Semillon Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. A white wine, the terroir enjoys a worldwide reputation, thanks to its twenty or so great growths classified in 1855!
Considered as the best sweet wines with internationally renowned châteaux such as Château d'yquem, the vineyard is planted on various soils (clay, limestone), with layers of gravel. Its reputation is due to its microclimate which allows the development of a noble rot (Botrytis Cinerea), responsible for the finesse and elegance of this wine. It is a wine that can be kept for up to 25 years, or even 100 years for the great vintages. With a golden colour, it emits aromas of candied fruit, apricot accompanied by the acidity of citrus fruits and honey reminiscent of spices. It has a freshness and a beautiful length in the mouth. In terms of gastronomy, it is served with dishes such as foie gras, roquefort, shellfish or exotic cuisine. A nectar not to be missed!
