Everything You Need to Know About Cahors
Cahors is the capital of French Malbec, a grape variety known here as Côt or Auxerrois. Before being planted in Argentina, Malbec reigned supreme in Cahors, producing wines of legendary concentration and power.
Today, the winemakers of Cahors are producing a diverse range of styles: structured, tannic Malbecs meant for aging, as well as more supple wines designed for immediate enjoyment. The limestone terroir of the Lot region’s Causses gives these wines a unique minerality. They pair perfectly with grilled meats and duck confit.
