This Chardonnay is the result of meticulous winemaking that beautifully highlights the distinctive character of its clay-limestone terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand, reflecting a constant commitment to quality. After direct whole-cluster pressing, the juice is fermented using indigenous yeasts, then aged for 11 months in oak barrels, imparting complexity and refined depth. The winemaking process uses minimal sulfites, enhancing the grape variety’s natural expression.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The nose of this Chardonnay opens with delicate aromas of white flowers and white-fleshed fruits, subtly enhanced by a hint of vanilla from its aging in old oak barrels. On the palate, it reveals a pleasant minerality, a legacy of its clay-limestone soil, accompanied by a silky texture that evokes roundness. Notes of toasted almond blend with a lingering freshness, offering an elegant finish. The structure is both generous and precise, reflecting the care taken throughout its winemaking process. This wine captivates with its harmonious balance and assertive character.

Chapuis & Chapuis

Chapuis & Chapuis

Burgundy | France

In Pommard, the Chapuis & Chapuis estate, managed by two brothers, crafts wines from local Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, sourced both from their own vineyards and from meticulously selected négociant partners. This dual approach allows them to work with diverse origins while maintaining consistent standards for raw material quality.

Vinification processes rely on spontaneous fermentations and gentle extractions, aiming to preserve textural finesse and fruit clarity. The red wines are characterized by a fine grain, a clear expression of Pinot Noir, and a marked verticality, reminiscent of classic Burgundian interpretations, without seeking excessive power.

The white wines maintain a distinct tension, supported by optimal ripeness and élevage conducted with restraint. The estate's overall approach prioritizes sincerity and precision, offering balanced cuvées built on finesse.
