Cirrus 2021

Val De Loire | White | 2021

This wine, from a 29-hectare organic vineyard, is distinguished by its oceanic character.

The proximity of the Atlantic coast, the richness of Lac de Grandlieu (recognized as the largest natural lowland lake in France), and its location at the westernmost tip of the Loire Valley give Domaine Eric Chevalier a privileged climate. Between the mildness of the lake and the salinity of the oceanic facade, the wines are marked "by where they were born."
The 20 and 10-year-old vines, planted on sandy and silty soils, are entirely dedicated to Fié Gris (rosé Sauvignon). Winemaking includes manual harvesting, whole-bunch maceration, and aging on lees for 11 to 12 months.

Our opinion on the vintage

The wine is a (very) intense gold. The nose is refined and profound, with delicate resinous notes. The palate is long and slender, taut with a spidery acidity, yet unfolding a round, ripe texture, with a supple feel – almost oily and creamy – and aromas that blend yellow fruits, candied citrus, and a persistent resinous touch. All of this is refreshed by a subtle effervescence. The finish prolongs the tension of the palate, with a more concentrated and sapid character.

Bourgogne | France

In Loire-Atlantique, Domaine Éric Chevalier is part of a movement to reinterpret the quality of the vineyards of the Pays Nantais region. The estate primarily works with Melon de Bourgogne, as well as more niche grape varieties such as Fié Gris, seeking to reveal their potential on demanding terroirs.

The vineyard rests on gneiss and schist soils, which impart a dry structure and pronounced character to the wines. Vinification is carried out with precision to preserve the natural tension of the juice and aromatic clarity. The wines are built on a foundation of precise balance, with clean fruit and mouthwatering finishes, without any pursuit of opulence.

The estate's work as a whole offers a contemporary and accessible interpretation of the Nantes region, highlighting the freshness, precision, and identity of the grape varieties. The wines are clear and structured, true to their origin and a rigorous approach to
