Crozes Hermitage 2023

Crozes-Hermitage | Rouge | 2023

In 2007, Thomas Finot, a winemaker who had gained experience across numerous appellations, discovered the Grésivaudan terroir, along with its heritage and winemaking potential. As a young, eco-conscious winemaker, Thomas Finot tends to his vineyard with meticulous care and uses traditional winemaking methods to allow the grape varieties and the terroir to express themselves through his wines.

This wine, produced from the family vineyard, is a true reflection of the terroir that gave it birth. On a southeast-facing hillside in Larnage, the Syrah grape thrives on a clay-limestone soil rich in kaolin. It is from this combination that the wine derives its roundness and aromas.

A forgotten grape variety can transform a landscape: this is what Thomas Finot has demonstrated by reviving Verdesse and Etraire de la Dhuy in the foothills of the Isère. His wines possess a precision, almost crystalline in quality, without ever becoming austere. The freshness comes naturally, as if flowing from the nearby mountain. The reds unfold gently, while the whites oscillate between tension and quiet maturity. A patient revival effort with far-reaching impact.
