Le Murtet 2020

Champagne | Blanc | 2020

This Le Murtet Champagne, certified organic and biodynamic, comes from a single plot in the siliceous-calcareous terroir of the Massif de Saint-Thierry. The blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay is created at harvest to ensure the wine’s harmony. Vinification and aging in new demi-muids, combined with gentle bâtonnage, add body to this Brut Nature, which stands out for its zero dosage, offering a pure and authentic expression.

Our Review of the Cuvée

At first glance, Le Murtet captivates with its pale, luminous color and reveals subtle aromas of white fruit and dried flowers on the nose. On the palate, it charms with its liveliness and precision. The silky texture of the Chardonnay blends with the assertive character of the Pinot Noir, offering delicate flavors of pear and a hint of almond. The long, mineral finish reveals the elegance of the siliceous-limestone terroir. Perfect at 10°C, it pairs wonderfully with fish, poultry, and cheeses, enhancing their flavors.

Champagne | France

The estate switched to biodynamic farming several years ago, producing precise, lively champagnes that emphasize brightness over power. Barrel fermentation lends a full-bodied texture without weighing the wines down. A common thread runs through them: fine bubbles, crisp aromas, and a tension that carries the finish. The single-vineyard cuvées showcase the diversity of the Marne Valley’s soils, with distinct nuances ranging from chalk to sand and clay.
