Discovering the IGP Alpes de Haute Provence: Around the AOC Pierrevert!
After her forays into Beaujolais , Laetitia Allemand now offers us a glimpse of the Alpes de Haute Provence. She takes us to discover a small vineyard with Provençal influences steeped in tradition. The majority of the vineyard is located in southeastern France, more precisely in the Provence wine region. The terroir is characterized by the Provençal Mediterranean climate and by limestone, schist, and granite soils. Let's take a closer look at this historic region!

Wine is a matter of tradition here. It is said that even before the arrival of the Romans, wine was already being produced in the region, which is said to have caught the attention of Julius Caesar himself!
The Pierrevert wine cooperative dates back to 1925. It unites 120 winegrowers and remains the only wine cooperative in the department today. The vineyards of the cooperative members, as well as those of the Madeleine, Régusse, and Blaque estates, stretch from the north of Manosque to the hillsides of Pierrevert. They benefit from optimal sunshine and a terroir situated between 450 and 550 meters above sea level.
AOC Pierrevert: Powerful and full-bodied wines for aging!
Syrah, Grenache, and Vermentino are the main grape varieties you'll find on its slopes. Here, they produce rosé wines, as well as white and red wines, labeled IGP Alpes de Hautes Provence or AOP Pierrevert . After aging in oak barrels, Pierrevert red wines become excellent, powerful, and structured reds with excellent aging potential. If you can resist the temptation, you can easily wait 10 years before opening them!
