Discovering the Brouilly AOC
Updated on December 14, 2022
After Moulin-à-Vent and Chénas , Laetitia Allemand takes us to Brouilly today. Are you familiar with the Brouilly AOC? It's one of the 10 Beaujolais crus. Produced in the Rhône department, the Brouilly AOC takes its name from Mont Brouilly, located in the heart of the appellation. Found on Parisian wine bars and in top restaurants, Brouilly is a surprising wine. Fruity, it pairs well with a wide variety of dishes, from Bresse chicken to spring barbecues. All aboard with Laetitia Allemand, we're off to Beaujolais to discover the Brouilly AOC!
The village of Brouilly
Here we are in front of the lovely Château de Pierreux. It's a former 13th-century fortified house and one of the most beautiful residences in the Beaujolais region, often seen when traveling through the area. The château has its vineyards right next to it. Let's go!
The Brouilly AOC vineyard, Beaujolais wine
Here, we make exclusively red wine . It's a fruity, elegant wine that's generally drunk between 2 and 5 years old. But it ages very well. You can easily keep a Brouilly AOC for more than 10 years!
Tasting tips for Brouilly AOC
Consider pairing Brouilly with Bresse poultry, for example, during the holiday season. Personally, I find it a lovely spring wine! It's best enjoyed with salads and grilled meats on sunny days!
Brouilly is a pleasant wine that is well-known on Parisian counters: in bistros, brasseries, but also in luxury hotels and even in some great restaurants, such as Fouquet's where it has had its place on the wine list for years!
This just goes to show that we're not done with the surprises when it comes to Brouilly!
