The parcels of the Gers, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Hautes-pyrénées share this appellation and with 1300 hectares, the terroir produces 65 600 hectolitres of red wine annually. The limestone rocks of the foothills of the Pyrenees and the oceanic climate of this wine-growing region contribute to the quality of these wine-keeping which improve over a decade. The remarkable ruby and particularly dark color of the wine bottles of the Madiran wines is typical of its region, its smell reminds of the raspberry. The wines destined to be buses young and vinified in this optic are flexible, scented and Fresh. The majority of the Madiran wines however requires a time in the vats of a few years, during which it develops aromatic notes of spices, grilled and black berries (cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant). At ageing, the tannins are more supple buy Madiran wines allowing the wine to be more silky and fleshy. It is eaten with grilled or candied meats (lamb, beef, cassoulet, Duck breast...).
