The Chablis vineyard is in the most northern part of the Burgundy region. Less than two hours by car from the Paris region, it is the perfect opportunity for Parisian wine lovers to come and taste the Chablis vintages directly at their producers. At the gates of Auxerre, you will have the opportunity to come and meet winemakers with a unique know-how in Burgundy.
The steps of our Chablis Wine Route :
Here, the king grape variety, Chardonnay, composes the wines divided into four appellations : Petit-Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru. It should be noted that, for its size, it is one of the vineyards that has the least amount of controlled appellation. Chablis is also a special vineyard because it produces only dry white wines.
The Chablis winemakers will explain to you what makes this vineyard unique. Set off on the Chablis Wine Route with cellar visits, wine tastings or abbey discoveries.
At Angst Vineyard, Céline and Antoine welcome you as if you were used to it. Discover this timeless estate located on the former Cistercian Abbey, a listed monument. After a visit of the premises, the cellar, the estate and the wine storehouses, you will have the opportunity to discover a wide range of wines made by the couple while respecting nature.
On the schedule: three of the four Chablis appellations, or a Crémant and a Burgundy rosé. With Céline, you'll be amazed by the vineyards of Chablis and the methods of sustainable viticulture. History and architecture enthusiasts will be tempted by the optional visit of the Pontigny Abbey, which Céline knows well.
Second step: we continue towards the South of Burgundy arriving in Chablis. In the heart of the small town that gives its name to the appellation, we find Louis and Catherine at the Domaine L&C Poitout. The owners give their initials to the name of their estate and offer a friendly visit and wine tasting.
Catherine tells you, around a glass, the history of the Chablis vineyard and its Wine Route, its winemakers and its unique terroirs. You will also discover how it is possible in a vineyard to preserve and develop the present fauna and flora.
By continuing to go around Auxerre from the east, we arrive at Jean-Marc Brocard's house. This institution of the region is the unmissable part of your Wine Tour of Chablis. On the estate, the winegrower cultivates nearly 80 hectares which he runs in organic farming: this will be the opportunity to discover the other side of the story of organic winemaking.
A few kilometres from Chablis, you can taste, with the sommelier's expert advice, the wines of the four appellations produced in the Burgundy vineyards. Would you prefer a visit or a tasting? You will have the choice to discover the cellars of the estate, or to taste 3 or 5 wines: there will be something for everyone!
Last step of our Wine Tour of Chablis: Saint-Bris-le-Vineux. In the heart of this small village of just over 1,000 inhabitants are the vineyards of the Domaine du Maître de Poste. South of Auxerre, Romain cultivates his few hectares of vines in the purest Chablis tradition: yield control and healthy vine treatment.
The winegrower welcomes you, simply, in a magnificent old coaching inn renovated into a wine storehouse and cellar. You will be able to enjoy the experience of a winegrower face to face with this passionate winegrower who will explain to you how he fell in love with each parcel that makes up his vineyard.
